Morning Prayer for May 30

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest

Today’s takeaway: Enter God's rest by trusting Christ, and keep running with all your heart.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, … strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you

Give diligence to make your calling and election sure: … For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

The LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

Prayer

Lord, help me labor to enter Your rest. The gate is narrow and the way is hard, and few find it. Keep me from spending my strength on food that perishes; let me work for what lasts forever. Make me diligent to confirm my calling. Yet let me also rest from my own works, trusting Christ's finished work. You will be my everlasting light. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
