Morning Prayer for May 2
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
Today’s takeaway: God is present everywhere, even in places where you did not notice Him.
Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.
Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Ye are the temple of the living God
Prayer
LORD, like Jacob I often wake up and realize You were here all along, and I did not know it. There is nowhere I can go from Your Spirit. The heaven of heavens cannot contain You, and yet You live with the humble and contrite. You promised that Your presence would go with me and give me rest. Make me aware of You in every ordinary place today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
