Evening Prayer for May 1

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The LORD is there.

Today’s takeaway: The best part of heaven is that God Himself will live with His people.

Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

I saw no temple … for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

There shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him

Before you pray

When did you feel closest to the Lord today?

Prayer

LORD, the name of Your city will be The LORD is there. One day You will live with Your people, and they will see Your face. There will be no more curse. Whom have I in heaven but You? There is nothing on earth I desire besides You. Tonight I fall asleep with that hope: I will be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
