Morning Prayer for May 10
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Today’s takeaway: Jesus came to destroy the devil's work, and in Him you share the victory.
We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Forasmuch … as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them
I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Father, Your Son came to destroy the works of the devil. My struggle today is not against the people in my way, but against spiritual forces I cannot see. Keep me from treating people as my enemies. Christ has already triumphed at the cross. Help me stand today in His victory, with love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
