Morning Prayer for June 5

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

When ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants

Today’s takeaway: Everything you have is a gift from God, so there is nothing to boast about.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

What hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

By the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things

All things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

Enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

Prayer

Lord, when I have done everything You asked, I am still an unprofitable servant. What do I have that I did not receive? I was saved by grace through faith, not by works, so boasting is excluded. I am Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Everything comes from You, and I only give You what is already Yours. By Your grace I am what I am. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
