Evening Prayer for June 4

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Let us put on the armour of light.

Today’s takeaway: Put on Jesus like clothing tonight, and trust His righteousness instead of your own.

Put … on the Lord Jesus Christ

That I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith

The righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe

He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness

I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

Ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light

Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

All things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly

Before you pray

What did you try to cover up today instead of bringing into the light?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I want to be found in You, not having my own righteousness, but the righteousness that comes from God by faith. You have covered me with the robe of righteousness. Tonight I bring my day into Your light, including what I would rather hide, and You forgive what I confess. Tomorrow, help me put You on like armor. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
