God’s Word

Hope maketh not ashamed

Today’s takeaway: Hope in God never leaves you ashamed, because it is anchored in His unbreakable promise.

I am the LORD: … they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed

God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus

Prayer

Lord, hope in You does not make anyone ashamed. Those who wait for You will not be disappointed in the end. Blessed is the one whose hope You are. My soul waits for You alone this morning; You are my rock and my salvation. I know whom I have believed, and my hope is anchored where Jesus has already gone. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
