Morning Prayer for January 19
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Serving the Lord with all humility of mind
Today’s takeaway: Serve others humbly today, as Jesus came to serve rather than be served.
Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
If a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man … not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
When ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
Our rejoicing is this, … that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world
We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Prayer
Lord, I want to serve You today with all humility of mind. Jesus came not to be served but to serve and to give His life. Keep me from thinking I am something when I am nothing apart from You. When I have done everything asked of me, let me still say I am only a servant. Give me a simple and sincere heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
