Morning Prayer for February 23

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

The blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Today’s takeaway: Jesus is the Lamb of God whose blood lets you come near to God with confidence.

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

It is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Abel, … brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. … the LORD … had respect unto Abel and to his offering

Christ … hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Having … boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Abel's blood cried out for justice, but Your blood cries out for mercy. Because of You I can come near to God with a clean conscience. This morning I want to extend that same mercy. Show me someone I have been keeping score against, and help me let it go today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
