Evening Prayer for February 23
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Who knoweth the power of thine anger?
Today’s takeaway: Jesus bore the full weight of sin on the cross, so there is peace for you tonight.
From the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus
Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us
God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
That he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

What did Jesus bear for you that you no longer have to bear?
Prayer
Father, who knows what Jesus bore for us when darkness covered the land and He cried out on the cross? He carried what I deserved. Because of Him there is no condemnation for me. Tonight I stop trying to pay for my own failures from today. I rest in His peace, and I thank You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
