Morning Prayer for August 6
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Whom the LORD loveth he correcteth
Today’s takeaway: When God corrects you, His thoughts toward you are still good and full of peace.
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.
As a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time
I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
Prayer
LORD, those You love, You correct, as a father corrects the son he delights in. Your thoughts toward me are thoughts of peace, even when Your ways are not my ways. Sometimes You lead me into the wilderness so You can speak tenderly to me there. No discipline feels joyful now, but it yields peace later. I humble myself under Your mighty hand. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
