Evening Prayer for August 6

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof

Today’s takeaway: Everything you have comes from God's hand, so receive it with thanks.

She did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, … Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax

All things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. O LORD our God, all this store … cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.

Of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

The living God, … giveth us richly all things to enjoy

Every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Before you pray

What gift from God today did you take for granted?

Prayer

LORD, the earth is Yours and everything in it. Israel forgot that You gave her the grain, the wine, and the oil. I forget too. Tonight I name some of today's gifts and thank You for them: food, work, people, rest. Help me hold them with open hands and share them gladly. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
