Morning Prayer for August 10

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Today’s takeaway: God keeps you from evil right where you are, so shine as a light in your world.

Blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world

Ye are the salt of the earth: … the light of the world.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I also withheld thee from sinning against me

The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

So did not I, because of the fear of God.

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Prayer

Father, Jesus did not pray for You to take me out of the world, but to keep me from evil. Make me blameless and harmless in a crooked world, salt and light where You have placed me. You held back Abimelech from sinning, and Nehemiah refused wrong because he feared You. Keep me the same way today. You are faithful, and You are able to keep me from falling. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
