Morning Prayer for April 2
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only
Today’s takeaway: Put away anything that competes with God for your heart, and serve Him alone.
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God
Serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Prayer
LORD, You are a jealous God, and You deserve my whole heart. Show me the quiet idols I have made of comfort, money, approval, or control, and help me put them away. I cannot serve You and money both. You look past my outward appearance to my heart, and You want truth in the inward parts. Give me a willing mind and an undivided heart today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
