Evening Prayer for September 6

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Watchman, what of the night?

Today’s takeaway: The night is almost over and morning is near, so watch and wait for Jesus.

It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Watch … for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Before you pray

What is the Lord teaching you as you wait for Him?

Prayer

LORD, the watchman asks what of the night. The night is far spent, and the day is at hand. Heaven and earth will pass away, but Your words will not. I wait for You, my soul waits, and in Your word I hope. My soul waits for You more than watchmen wait for the morning. Jesus said He is coming quickly. I watch and wait. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
