Evening Prayer for September 26
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Death is swallowed up in victory.
Today’s takeaway: Death has lost its victory, because Christ has won it for you.
Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Forasmuch … as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
If we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Before you pray
How does Christ's victory over death change how you face tomorrow?
Prayer
Father, death is swallowed up in victory. Thanks be to You, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. He shared our flesh and blood so that through death He could free those who were held in fear of death all their lives. I died with Christ, and I will live with Him. I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
