Evening Prayer for September 19
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD
Today’s takeaway: When you do not know what to do, keep your eyes on the LORD, your help and shelter.
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Before you pray
Where did your help come from today?
Prayer
LORD, I lift up my eyes to the hills, but my help comes from You, the Maker of heaven and earth. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so You surround Your people. Like Jehoshaphat, I do not know what to do, but my eyes are on You. You have been my help, so in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
