Evening Prayer for September 13
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Ye are the salt of the earth
Today’s takeaway: What God gives is incorruptible and lasting, so let your life be seasoned with grace.
That which is not corruptible
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live
The children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
The uncorruptible God
If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption
Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Before you pray
What lasting thing did you invest in today?
Prayer
Father, I have been born again, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, by Your word that lives and abides forever. You are the incorruptible God. What is sown in corruption will be raised in incorruption. Jesus called me the salt of the earth. Let my words tomorrow be seasoned with grace, and help me have peace with those around me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
