Evening Prayer for September 11

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

Today’s takeaway: Work faithfully through the day, and rest tonight knowing your labor for God is not wasted.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground

We commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

Study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

The night cometh, when no man can work.

Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

There remaineth … a rest to the people of God.

Unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing

Before you pray

What work did you finish today that you can hand over to God?

Prayer

LORD, man goes out to his work and his labor until evening. Today I worked, and now it is evening. Whatever my hands found to do, I tried to do it with my might, and where I fell short, forgive me. My labor in You is not in vain. There remains a rest for Your people. Give me rest tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
