Evening Prayer for September 10
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength
Today’s takeaway: Wait on the LORD, and His strength will be made perfect in your weakness.
When I am weak, then am I strong.
God shall be my strength.
He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Let him take hold of my strength
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee
The arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob
I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
Before you pray
Where do you need God's strength instead of your own?
Prayer
Father, those who wait on You will renew their strength. When I am weak, then I am strong, because Your strength is made perfect in weakness. Joseph's arms were made strong by the mighty God of Jacob. David faced Goliath in the name of the LORD of hosts. Tonight I cast my burden on You, and You will sustain me. Take hold of my cause. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
