Evening Prayer for October 7
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
O Lord GOD, … with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
Today’s takeaway: Giving brings greater blessing than receiving, so share what God has given you with others.
Thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
When thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
The LORD God is a sun and shield
Before you pray
Whom did you bless today, and how has God blessed you?
Prayer
O Lord GOD, when You bless, it is blessed forever. Your blessing makes rich and adds no sorrow with it. Jesus said it is more blessed to give than to receive. Blessed is the one who considers the poor. Help me open my table to those who cannot repay me. You are a sun and a shield. Thank You for Your blessing on my house tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
