Evening Prayer for October 30

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

Today’s takeaway: Watch for the little sins, like careless words, that can spoil a fruitful life.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled

Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ

The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

The tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt

Before you pray

What little fox is spoiling the vine in your life?

Prayer

Father, it is often the little foxes that spoil the vines. Cleanse me from secret faults I cannot even see. Keep any root of bitterness from springing up in me. The tongue is a small member, but it can start a great fire. Let my speech always be gracious. You will finish the good work You began. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
