Evening Prayer for October 29

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Today’s takeaway: When you are discouraged, find your courage in the LORD your God, as David did.

Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Before you pray

When did you have to encourage yourself in the LORD recently?

Prayer

LORD, when David was in distress, he encouraged himself in You. Peter said, To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. In my distress I called on You, and You heard me. You were my stay and brought me into a large place. I will bless You at all times. I have tasted, and You are good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
