Evening Prayer for October 18

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Amen: … Amen: the LORD God … say so too.

Today’s takeaway: Every promise of God is Yes and Amen in Christ, and He cannot lie.

He who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth

And he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth

When God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself

For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us

These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: … Amen, and Amen.

Before you pray

What promise of God can you say Amen to tonight?

Prayer

Faithful God, when You made a promise to Abraham, You swore by Yourself, because there was no one greater. Jesus is the Amen, the faithful and true witness. All Your promises in Him are yes. Tonight I name one promise I need to hold on to, and I say Amen to it. I trust You to keep it. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
