Evening Prayer for October 17
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Today’s takeaway: The kingdom, power, and glory belong to God, and He is greater than any enemy.
The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; … Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
The LORD is clothed with strength
Great in power
If God be for us, who can be against us?
Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us … and he will deliver us
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above … all. Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
Before you pray
What reminded you today that God is in control?
Prayer
Father, Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Today I tried to hold on to some control and some credit. Tonight I give both back to You. The kingdom is Yours, not mine. The power is Yours. The glory is Yours. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
