Evening Prayer for October 10
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
After this manner … pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven
Today’s takeaway: Through Jesus you can call God Father, because His Spirit makes you His child.
Lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father
My Father, and your Father
Ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God
Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Before you pray
What does it mean to you tonight to call God your Father?
Prayer
Father, Jesus taught us to pray, Our Father which art in heaven. He called You His Father and mine. I am Your child by faith in Christ. You have given me the Spirit of adoption, and I cry, Abba, Father. You have promised to be a Father to me. I come to You tonight as Your child. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
