Evening Prayer for November 30
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
We glory in tribulations
Today’s takeaway: You can rejoice in the LORD even when everything else fails, because He is your salvation.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
Sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
They departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Before you pray
What can you rejoice in tonight, even if circumstances are hard?
Prayer
God of hope, fill me with joy and peace in believing. I can glory even in tribulation. The apostles rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for Christ's name. Even if the fig tree does not blossom and the fields yield no food, I will rejoice in You and be joyful in the God of my salvation. I rejoice in You always. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
