Evening Prayer for November 15
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
We are his workmanship
Today’s takeaway: God is shaping you like stones for His temple, joining you with His people.
They brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
The house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house
Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God
Ye are God’s building.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
Before you pray
What is God shaping in you right now?
Prayer
Father, I am Your workmanship. Solomon's temple was built with stones prepared at the quarry, so no hammer was heard on site. You are shaping me now for my place in Your house. I am a living stone, built on Christ the cornerstone. Once I was not Your people, but now I am. You made me for this, and You gave me Your Spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
