Evening Prayer for May 8

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence

Today’s takeaway: Keep praying and do not stay silent, because God hears His people's cries.

Thou … hast made us unto our God kings and priests

The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations. And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain

Their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even unto heaven.

The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

Pray one for another, … The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Make no tarrying, O my God.

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God

Before you pray

Who could you pray for tonight before you sleep?

Prayer

LORD, You have made me a priest to pray for others, and You tell me not to keep silent. Your eyes are on the righteous, and Your ears are open to their cry. The fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. So tonight I bring You the people on my heart, by name. You never told anyone to seek You in vain. Hear us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
