Evening Prayer for March 5
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Fight the good fight of faith
Today’s takeaway: When you feel surrounded, remember that those with you are more than those against you.
We were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
Strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
God is my strength and power
He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
Our sufficiency is of God
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
The time would fail me to tell of … Who through faith subdued kingdoms, … out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Before you pray
What fear inside you tried to win today, and what truth answered it?
Prayer
Lord GOD, today there were fightings outside and fears inside. Open my eyes the way You opened the eyes of Elisha's servant, so I can see that those with me are more than those against me. My sufficiency is from You. Your angel camps around those who fear You and delivers them. Out of my weakness, make me strong. I sleep tonight under that protection. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
