Evening Prayer for June 9

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The triumphing of the wicked is short

Today’s takeaway: The enemy's triumph is short, and the God of peace will soon crush him under your feet.

Thou shalt bruise his heel.

This is your hour, and the power of darkness.

As the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil

Having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

The God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.

The devil … was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, … and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Before you pray

Where did you resist temptation today, and where do you need help tomorrow?

Prayer

Father, the triumph of the wicked is short. The serpent bruised Christ's heel, but Christ crushed his head. When I see wrong seem to win, remind me how the story ends. Tonight I resist the devil in whatever area he pressed on me today. You will soon crush Satan under our feet. I sleep in that victory. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
