Evening Prayer for June 6

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

A new and living way

Today’s takeaway: Sin shut the way to God, but Jesus has opened the way back to His presence.

Cain went out from the presence of the LORD

Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you

Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ, … hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel

The way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing

He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us

The veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom

Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Before you pray

What has been separating you from God, and have you brought it to Him?

Prayer

Father, Cain went out from Your presence, and sin always tries to pull me away from You too. Tonight I notice where I drifted today. But Jesus is the new and living way, and the veil is torn. I come back to You now. Show me the path of life tomorrow, and let me rest in Your presence tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
