Evening Prayer for June 18

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Faith as a grain of mustard seed

Today’s takeaway: God uses people with weak, trembling faith, so do not despise small beginnings.

Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan

Gideon … feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, … did it by night.

And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said

Let me prove, I pray thee, … And God did so

Thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Who hath despised the day of small things?

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly

Lord, Increase our faith.

I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

Before you pray

Where did your faith feel small today, and did God still use it?

Prayer

Faithful God, Barak would not go alone, and Gideon did his obedience at night because he was afraid. You still used them. I have been timid too. Do not let me despise the day of small things in my own faith. Be like the dew to me tonight, so that I grow stronger and bolder tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
