Evening Prayer for July 7
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The Son of man came … to give his life a ransom for many.
Today’s takeaway: Jesus freely gave His life as a ransom, and His blood cleanses your conscience.
If the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter
I lay down my life for the sheep.
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
The life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Without shedding of blood is no remission.
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Before you pray
What does it mean to you tonight that Jesus gave His life willingly?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, no one took Your life from You; You laid it down of Yourself for me. Your blood cleanses my conscience. Tonight my conscience is bothering me about something from today. I bring it to You and do not argue with it or bury it. Cleanse me, and let me serve You with a clear heart tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
