Evening Prayer for July 6

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes

Today’s takeaway: God is kind even to the ungrateful, so be merciful to others as He is to you.

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

Your Father which is in heaven: … maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Be ye … followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling

Be ye kind … one another, … tenderhearted, … forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently

The love of Christ constraineth us

Love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Before you pray

Who was hard to love today, and how did you respond?

Prayer

Father, Your lovingkindness is before my eyes tonight. You are gracious and full of compassion, and You make Your sun rise on the evil and on the good. Make me like You. Where I was unkind today, forgive me. Tomorrow, let the love of Christ move me to love even those who do not love me back. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
