Evening Prayer for July 27

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle

Today’s takeaway: Rely on God rather than on human strength, because the battle is won by Him.

When I am weak, then am I strong.

Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God

Before you pray

What did you try to handle alone today instead of crying out to God?

Prayer

LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Jehoshaphat cried out, and You helped him. A king is not saved by the size of his army. It is better to trust in You than in princes. When I am weak, then I am strong. I rest tonight, knowing You fight for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
