Evening Prayer for July 26

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Today’s takeaway: God is perfectly holy, and He calls His people to share in His holiness.

The heavens are not clean in his sight. How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

Yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. How much less man, that is a worm?

Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness

Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts

As he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Partakers of his holiness.

The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

What manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness

Without spot, and blameless.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, … And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Before you pray

What did you say today that grieved the Holy Spirit?

Prayer

Holy God, even the heavens are not clean in Your sight, and the stars are not pure to You. How much less am I. Yet You call me to share in Your holiness, and You have made me Your temple. Forgive me for words that grieved Your Spirit today. Let my speech tomorrow build others up and give grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
