Evening Prayer for July 18

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

She hath done what she could

Today’s takeaway: God values what you give with a willing heart, even if it is small.

This poor widow hath cast in more than they all

Whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

If there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

Let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

He which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

When ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Before you pray

What small thing did you do for Jesus today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You said of Mary, She has done what she could, and You praised the widow's two mites. What I did for You today may seem small. Thank You that You measure a willing heart, not the size of the gift. Show me one small thing I can do for someone tomorrow, and let me do it gladly. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
