Evening Prayer for July 11

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Today’s takeaway: Only God can satisfy the deep longing of your soul, and He fills the hungry with good things.

Ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory

My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

My people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

Before you pray

What did you hunger for today, and did you bring it to God?

Prayer

O God, You satisfy the longing soul and fill the hungry soul with goodness. My soul thirsts for You. I have tasted that You are gracious, and I want more of You. One day I will hunger and thirst no more. Tonight let me be satisfied with Your goodness, and tomorrow let me wake up still longing for You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
