Evening Prayer for January 14
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Today’s takeaway: Jesus was bruised to crush the enemy, and all authority now belongs to Him.
His visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men
He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
This is your hour, and the power of darkness.
Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above
The Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
In my name shall they cast out devils
The God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.
Before you pray
Where did you feel the battle with evil today, and where did Jesus win it?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You were bruised so that the serpent's head would be crushed. Some battles in my life feel like they are still going the wrong way. Remind me tonight that the outcome is already settled. Where I have given the enemy ground today, I take it back in Your name. Let me sleep resting in Your victory, not my own effort. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
