Evening Prayer for February 8
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
Today’s takeaway: You are part of the living house God is building, with Jesus as the cornerstone.
The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion
Before you pray
Where did you see God's salvation around you today?
Prayer
Father, You call Your people's walls Salvation and their gates Praise. I want my home to be like that. Forgive me for the tension and hurry that filled it today. Tonight I ask You to guard this house, the people in it, and our conversations tomorrow. Let our walls be salvation and our doors be open with praise. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
