Evening Prayer for February 6

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

I am … the bright and morning star.

Today’s takeaway: Jesus is the bright morning star, and His coming will end the long night.

There shall come a Star out of Jacob

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.

Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

I am the light of the world

I will give him the morning star.

Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: … Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Before you pray

What darkness are you waiting for Jesus to scatter?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the bright and morning Star. The night is far spent, and the day is at hand. Whatever feels dark in my life tonight, I bring it into Your light. Stay near me until the day breaks and the shadows flee. When I wake up, let the first thing I remember be You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
