Evening Prayer for February 26
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
There was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
Today’s takeaway: The rainbow reminds you that God's covenant is everlasting and His promises cannot fail.
This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud
And I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
An everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us
We declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Before you pray
Which of God's promises reminded you of His faithfulness today?
Prayer
Faithful God, there is a rainbow around Your throne, a sign that You remember Your covenant. You cannot lie. Tonight I bring You the promise I am struggling to believe. Remind me that You are faithful even when I do not see it yet. Let me sleep under the rainbow of Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
