Evening Prayer for February 17

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

God created man in his own image

Today’s takeaway: God made you in His image and is shaping you to be like His Son.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ

We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

We know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ

Before you pray

How does being made in God's image change how you see yourself and others?

Prayer

Father, You created us in Your own image. I am Your offspring, and You are rich in mercy, making me alive with Christ. I am Your workmanship, created for good works You prepared ahead of time. You are shaping me into the image of Your Son. Help me see others as bearers of Your image too. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
