Evening Prayer for December 31

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

There remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.

Today’s takeaway: As the year closes, keep growing in Christ, because the best is still ahead of you.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Be ye therefore perfect

Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

For the Spirit searcheth all things

Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

Before you pray

What land is still left to possess in your walk with God next year?

Prayer

LORD, as this year ends, there remains yet very much land to be possessed. I have not already attained, but I press on. Help me add to my faith virtue, knowledge, patience, godliness, kindness, and love. Let my love abound more and more. There remains a rest for Your people, and one day I will see the King in His beauty. Thank You for this year. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
