Evening Prayer for December 3

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Our bodies washed with pure water.

Today’s takeaway: God is holy, so offer yourself to Him as a clean and living sacrifice.

Thou shalt … make a laver of brass, … and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; … they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not

Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you

If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

In my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another

There shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth

Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Before you pray

What in your life needs washing before you draw near to God?

Prayer

Holy God, the priests washed at the bronze laver before they served You. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and Your temple is holy. You are of purer eyes than to look on evil. Wash me tonight with pure water, and by Your mercies I present my body as a living sacrifice. One day I will see You with my own eyes. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
