Evening Prayer for December 27

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

He is our peace

Today’s takeaway: Christ has made peace between you and God, so let your heart rest tonight.

God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; … And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Before you pray

Is there a relationship where you need Christ's peace?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are our peace. You broke down the wall of hostility and left me Your peace. Tonight I think of a relationship that needs peace. Show me how to be a peacemaker there, and give me courage to take the first step. Help me carry Your peace to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
