Evening Prayer for December 21

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Today’s takeaway: God cares for every creature and hears every cry, so He will not forget you.

The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? … for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Trust … in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy

Before you pray

What needs did God meet for you today?

Prayer

LORD, the disciples asked if You cared that they were perishing, and You calmed the storm. You opened Hagar's eyes to see a well in the wilderness. Tonight I feel like I am in a storm about something. Open my eyes to Your provision. You know what I need, and You care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
