Evening Prayer for December 18

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Today’s takeaway: The Spirit gives true freedom, so stand firm in the liberty Christ has won for you.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

If the Son … shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Before you pray

What truth set you free this year?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, the truth has made me free. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. I am justified by faith in You, not by the works of the law. Help me look into the perfect law of liberty and keep doing it. Tonight I stand fast in the freedom You won for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
