Evening Prayer for December 13
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Thou renderest to every man according to his work.
Today’s takeaway: Build your life on Christ the foundation, and do quiet good that God will reward.
Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
When thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God
LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
Before you pray
What did you build today on the foundation of Christ?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, no other foundation can be laid than the one that is laid, which is You. Each person's work will be tested, and if it lasts, there will be a reward. I am not sufficient in myself. You have done all my works in me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
